Growing your family is a magnificent milestone and should be celebrated. I love to work with families who wish to introduce their person to their community. We work together to share the story of their family up to this point, their hopes for the future and, if wanted, create a network of people for their person to guide and support them through life’s challenges.

If a religious ceremony isn't right for you, this is a great alternative.  As parents, a naming ceremony involves you making a  loving commitment to parenting your child.  You may also wish to name Guide-parents  (or fairy godmothers and fathers if you want!) and include grandparents in the promises.

You can formally announce the name of your little one surrounded by your loved ones.  Share the story behind their name, poems, readings and music that is important to your growing family.  You may also include a unity candle or other rituals to mark this very special milestone.

"I attended a naming ceremony for a close friend officiated by Hayley. Often when you go to an event, a wedding, christening etc… the ceremony - the ‘formal bit’ so to speak - is the part you have to tolerate to get to the good stuff, where you can all hang out and eat food and have a glass of wine. Seeing Hayley at work and listening to her celebration was not something that needed to be gotten ‘out of the way.’ Her blend of warmth, eloquence and insight into the family that we were all there to celebrate and share our love with, made the actual naming ceremony the best bit. The icing on the cake. The part that we all went away thinking about. She was engaging, eloquent and made the whole event beautiful from start to end and it reframed for me my perception of what a ceremony is and how fantastic it can be with the right person at the helm.
